of a military family

I'm so excited that next week I get to be a counselor at a camp for kids who have parents who have or are currently serving overseas in the military.  I personally don't have any close relatives in the service but appreciate everything that no only the military personnel but their families go through while serving our great country. My husband grew up in a military family (being born overseas on an Air force base and living on one until he was 10) so this was something he could really connect with.

Im even more excited because we are getting to volunteer together! He has never been a counselor before for Camp Twin Lakes (which is an amazing organization) so I think he is kind of nervous but excited about the fun and connections he will make through the process. I think he is worried he is going to lose a kid or something but I've tried to explain to him this is near impossible.

This is going to be my first camp that is not specifically for kids with medical conditions (something I can connect more with being in the medical profession) so it might be a challenge for me because I've never experienced not having my Mama or Dad around.

Im so thankful for Camp Twin Lakes and everything that they do for kids and if you are looking for something to volunteer or donate to then you should totally check them out!!

of a great motivator!

I have had an amazing summer volunteering at some children camps in Georgia with kids who have physical disabilities. I have loved them and gotten as much out of them as (I hope) the kids have.
Today I found out about an amazing concept when people who have the ability to run, run for a child who cant run. You stay connected through the Facebook group. I signed up today and can't wait to get matched with someone!
For all the runners out there you have to check them out!
